All teams are guaranteed a minimum of three (3) games.

Game Lengths:

All Round Robin, Semi and Final games                       10-10-10 minute stop time

Overtime will only apply to Semi-Final and Final Games

All games will start with 13 minutes on the clock. As soon as the Referees have stepped on the ice the clock will start for the Teams to warm up. At 11 minutes the Referees will blow their whistle signalling the Teams to get ready to start. The puck will drop at the 10 minute mark and the clock will not stop until the first stoppage in play. This is to ensure that games start on time.

Five Goal Differential Rule: If there is a 5 goal spread or greater in the 3rd period in any games (including semi-final and final games), the clock will be allowed to run.

Tournament Format: For the round robin and semi-final games the teams shake hands at the end of the game.  For the Championship games teams are to shake hands and line up on the blue lines for awards presentation.  After the Award presentation the Champions and Finalists will be given a few minutes to take their team photo on the Ice however we ask that each team have ONE designated person per team to take a team photo.

Scoring:

2 - Win

1 - Tie

0 - Loss

Time outs: Time outs are not permitted in round robin play.  One 30 second timeout, per team, will be permitted in semi-finals and championship games only.

Playoff Format:

10 Teams - Division will consist of 2 five team pools. The top 2 teams in each pool will move to the semi finals.
12 Teams - Division will consist of three four team pools. The winner of each pool will advance to the semi-finals along with a wildcard (next highest record). The pool winner with the next highest record will play the wildcard team in one semi-final. The winners of the semi-finals will meet in the finals.

Round Robin Tie Breaking Rules:

1. Head to Head: For example, If only two teams are tied head to head gets higher position.

2. Most Wins

3. Goal Percentage: The goal average is determined by dividing the total number of goals for and against into the number of goals for with the team having the highest percentage (closest to 1) assuming the higher position. In case of a 3 team tie and two teams are still tied after the goal average is calculated go back to Rule 1 Head to Head.

Example Calculation of Rule 3

Team A Goals for 16 and goals against 4 = 16/ (16+4) = 16/20 = .800

Team B Goals for 12 and goals against 2 = 12/ (12+2) = 12/14 = .857

Team B would assume the higher position

4. First Goal: If the teams are still tied, the team to assume the higher position will be the team that scored the first goal in the game between the two teams.

5. Least Penalties: If the teams are still tied, the team with the least penalty minutes in all their games will assume the higher position.

6. Coin Toss: If the teams are still tied, the higher position will be determined by a coin toss. The team from the farthest away calls the toss.

Overtime for Semi-Finals and Finals:

The clock will be set for one (1) minute.

Teams will play overtime with the following guidelines.

1st minute - 4 on4 (plus goalies)

2nd minute - 3 on 3 (plus goalies)

3rd minute - 2 on 2 (plus goalies)

4th minute - 1 on 1 (plus goalies)

If nothing is decided after the 4th minute, one minute periods will continue 1 on 1 plus a goalie.

During any overtime period a team may select to pull their goalie and replace them with a player.

A buzzer at the end of each minute will require any players on the ice at that time to change. During the minute of overtime play, players may be substituted any number of times.

All penalties acquired during overtime will trigger an immediate penalty shot for the player who was victimized on the play.

If the shooter does not score, the offending player must remain in the penalty box for the remainder of that overtime minute.

Penalties from regulation time will carry over in to the first minute of overtime as needed. The penalized player’s team will play one man short. If the player has still not served all of his penalty time by the end of the first minute, he will remain in the box until his time has been served. His team will ONLY be penalized a man during the first minute of overtime.

Protests: Protests must be filed by team officials in writing with a $200.00 non-refundable fee per protest to the arena Tournament office within one hour after the end of the game.

The decision by the Tournament Rules Committee will be final and may not be protested.  It should be noted that a Referee’s decision is final and may not be protested unless it concerns an interpretation of the rules as outlined in the Hockey Canada rulebook.

Please Note: Any player who receives a Fighting Major will be suspended for the duration of the tournament.
