Qualification for Minor Development Championships:
At the December 2, 2009 Representative Council Meeting, the following Motion was passed:
“To qualify for the MD Championships with the exception of the Host Centre St. Catharines, all other teams must win their Play-down Semi-Final round.”
Qualifiers from the West MD League:
The Regular Season first place finisher qualifies for the Tier 1 Championship, the final remaining birth will go to the MD West Champion. If the Regular Season first place finisher is also the West MD Champions, the final remaining birth for the Tier 1 Championships will go to the West MD Championship Finalist. The next two seeded teams at the conclusion of MD West Playdown Semi-Final Competition will qualify for the ALLIANCE Hockey MD Tier 2 Championships.
The same process applies for the Novice divisions: The Regular Season first place finisher qualifies for the Championship, the final remaining birth will go to the MD West Champion. If the Regular Season first place finisher is also the West MD Champion, the final remaining birth for the Championships will go to the West MD Championship Finalist.
Qualifiers from the East/Central MD League:
All Semi-Final Winners will advance to the Tier 1 & Tier 2 Championships Novice 1 through Midget Tier 2 with the following exception: If St. Catharines does not win a Semi-Final round in the division which they participate they will automatically gain a birth as host. Where St. Catharines is host in a particular division the other remaining birth in the MD Championships goes to the winner of the East/Central MD Championship.
